🧳 What Visitors Need to Know
Idaho is one of the very few remaining states with zero cannabis legalization — not even medical. Any possession is a criminal offense. The state has actively fought CBD products and hemp derivatives in some cases. Surrounded by legal states (Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Montana), Idaho highways are actively patrolled for cannabis coming across state lines. Do not drive through Idaho with cannabis from a neighboring legal state.
📍 Major Cities
Boise is Idaho's most progressive city and has pushed for more moderate cannabis policies, but state law is absolute. Zero options for cannabis consumers. Oregon border is about 1.5 hours west.
Coeur d'Alene is minutes from the Washington state border where cannabis is fully legal. Idaho state patrol is aware of this and actively watches I-90. Do not bring Washington cannabis into Idaho.
Pocatello has no cannabis options and conservative enforcement. Not a destination for cannabis consumers.
ℹ️ Dispensary hours, prices, and laws change frequently. Always verify before visiting.
📋 Legal Background
Idaho has no medical or recreational cannabis program. Possession of any amount is a misdemeanor (up to 1 year, $1,000 fine) for a first offense. Idaho's constitution was amended in 2024 to prevent future legalization by initiative. The state's position on cannabis is firmly prohibitionist.
