🧳 What Visitors Need to Know
Maine is one of the most cannabis-friendly states in New England. Legal since 2016, with a generous 2.5 oz possession limit. Portland has an excellent dispensary scene. The culture is relaxed and enforcement is minimal. Great for a cannabis-friendly vacation — hiking, coastal towns, and good weed. Don't take anything south into New Hampshire or Massachusetts without checking their rules.
📍 Major Cities
Portland, Maine has a thriving dispensary scene with a focus on local and craft cannabis. Several excellent dispensaries in the Old Port and surrounding neighborhoods. The craft cannabis culture here is genuine — you'll find small-batch, locally grown product with real terpene profiles. Prices are reasonable. Staff are knowledgeable and unpretentious.
Bangor has a few dispensaries serving northern Maine. Good access for what's a relatively rural area. Prices are similar to Portland. Excellent if you're exploring Acadia National Park and the Maine coast.
Augusta has cannabis retail for the government and local crowd. Smaller selection than Portland. Works if you're in central Maine.
ℹ️ Dispensary hours, prices, and laws change frequently. Always verify before visiting.
